In mac osX 10.6.8 Gmail continually reverts the font size to a very small one. . I'll enlarge the text and it will reduce it. This is a recent development and is not a problem in Chrome

In the past, I've always been able to use the touch pad to enlarge the text to a comfortable viewing size and it would remain that way. Now in gmail, it is consistently reverting to the smallest size as I type or after. It wants to be the smallest size. I've begun using chrome which does not exhibit this issue. I've looked through preferences and have not spotted a remedy. I too had the crashing upon closing firefox. My screen would go to the blue screen. That appears to have been remedied. Thank you for your assistance.
