I cannot see my bookmarks toolbar - the gap is there for it and it is ticked in View and shows in Booksmarks drop-down menu but is invisible (or gone so far to left that it can't be got at), I think it happened after I added eBay sidebar for Firefox.

Any help welcome. I have tried just re-starting Firefox and I have tried adding bookmarks to it, but still can't see it.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

If not, see this:

Hi. Thanks for your help. Yes, I found it didn't happen in SafeMode so chose the resetting of bookmarks etc option, which has got rid of the eBay logo which had lodged itself on the Navigation toolbar when I had chosen the ebay add-on. It seems I can now still have the ebay sidebar but my bookmarks toolbar has returned. So everything looks OK now. THANK YOU for solving this for me. I didn't even know about Firefox safe mode, so that is good to know.

Sorry - in reading my reply I don't think I mean "resetting of bookmarks option" - can't remember the exact wording but it must have been to do with the toolbars.

You're welcome.

This issue can also be caused by a missing "Bookmarks Toolbar items" on the Bookmarks Toolbar.

  • Make sure that you have the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
  • Check in "View > Toolbars > Customize" that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the Customize window onto the Bookmarks Toolbar
  • If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" then click the "Restore Default Set" button

Thanks for this cor-el. I have sorted it this time by removing the ebay sidebar completely now, but it's always useful to know about these tips and I could try this if I decide to re-install the ebay sidebar. Best wishes.

I have the same issue, where I do not see the Bookmarks Toolbar entries, though the Bookmarks Toolbar is "active" according to View -> Toolbars.

The Boomarks Toolbar Items icon is not available in View -> Toolbars -> Customize

Running "restore default set" does not make the icon in View -> Toolbars -> Customize or the toolbar itself come back

I can access all of the bookmarks that have been placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar by going to Bookmarks -> Bookmarks Toolbar, I just no longer see the bookmarks in the location where the Bookmarks Toolbar normally shows up.

Please advise

Thank you

I would like to add that when you move the Bookmark Toolbar Items to the toolbar, you will FIRST get a hieroglyphic- NOT YOUR BOOKMARK ITEMS. When you exit the toolbars option, your items should appear, so be a little patient.

However, I would like to know WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE A WINDOWS APPLICATION UPGRADE THAT DOESN'T CAUSE ME TO SPEND 3 HOURS RESTORING ALL MY PROGRAM SETTINGS?????
