browser wiil not remember nor ask to remember passwords
after the last update Firefox will no longer prompt for, nor remember passwords. I have covered all the forums looking for an answer. Tried all that was written there. This really spoils the brousing experience

Did you check the setting? Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Remember passwords for sites"
Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working. You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".
