How do I stop the 20+ pop ads for security scans that I don't need
Since the latest Firefox upgrade I get about 30 pop up ads from you scaring me about security. I have run a diagnostic and am confident I do not have any issues. I will soon leave you all together despite the hassle of chaging

Hey Susan,
I saw your post and wanted to give you some tips. I know it's frustrating when your pc is not operating right. I have never seen security popups regardless if I was running firefox with addons or not.
I'm running an older version of Firefox for Win7 64bit so I can't totally follow along with that issue but it seems odd they would push security to that extent as Firefox is fairly secure without any additional setting changes being required however, you stated it only began on the latest version.
Are these messages site specific when https is required such as online banking? or are these messages immediately visible when browsing on any site?
You say you are convinced that you are not infected, can you please share what you utilize for a resident shield aka antivirus software?
I would recommend running Hitman Pro alert, it's a free utility that works on most flavors of windows and is fully functional for 30 days. Pop-ups, flyins, excessive push notifications etc.. are a big sign of malware.
Do you have a secondary browser installed to test with? Although this is not completely error-free as all browsers in Windows utilize the same set of system files, such as connectivity through the windsock 32.dll. as an example.
I would run a scan immediately with house call by trend micro or hitman Pro alert just incase, as 30+ messages seems somewhat heavy.
Please share any additional info; where did you obtain the latest setup file for Firefox? Did you notice *https:// in your browser? What was the size and version number. Can you post a screenshot of a security message?
- Additionally browsers only relay push notifications which root from websites.
Once you grant permission, the process relies on three core technologies working behind the scenes.
Service Workers: Background JavaScript files that run independently of your website to listen for incoming messages, even when the browser is closed. Push API: Connects the server to the browser's push service, allowing messages to be sent to the device. Notifications API: Displays the received data to the user as a system-level pop-up alert.

Are these as small popups on bottom right corner of Firefox windows?. If so then these may just be web push notifications from sites you have allowed to send you notifications. Instaed of useful information some may send you fake notifications for junk, spam, fake virus/trojan alerts etc. You can revoke these sites from sending you notifications.
Neither Mozilla nor the Firefox web browsers sends you such popups.
