Hello,

I can't receive any of my e-mails. I can send e-mails out now. Plus I can put in my password to log into my e-mail. This has been a headache for me, I have been with Thunder Bird for years.

I also get a boxes that says : Unable to write the email to the mailbox. It says to make sure the file system allows me to write privileges, and I have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. I have enough space on my computer system and all. Another box that says my e-mail is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages. I did e-mail you yesterday on these issues. As I said I can e-mail messages out now also log into my e-mail with my password. Thanks, Chris

What is your operating system?

What version of Thunderbird?

Who is your email provider?

Is this an IMAP account or POP3?

How long has this been going on?

What is your anti-virus, if any?

Error messages like this can have a few potential causes. The most common one is the anti-virus, which can take hold of your folder file and not let go. This can be tested by temporarily disabling the AV, by creating an exception for your Thunderbird Profile, or (assuming Windows) restarting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, which temporarily disables the AV.

It could also be caused by a server problem, which could also account for you being repeatedly asked for your password. This is usually temporary and will go away when the server admins fix it.

There are also reports of similar errors caused by a corrupt message on the server. If you can narrow down the time frame when this started, you might use the provider's web mail interface to identify the bad message and delete it from there, which could allow downloads to happen again.

Hi My operating system is window 10 It is 151.0.1 (32-bits) released May26,2026 Spectrum I believe it is POP3 It just started yesterday afternoon. Norton I did call Spectrum today, they had me change a few things in setting. I can now send e-mails not receiving e-mails yet. Also now the box comes up for me to put my password in which it wasn’t doing this yesterday. Spectrum said to reach out for help getting the e-mail to receive, they done everything to get it to work. Thanks again, Chris

Hi Sorry it is IMAP not POP3 Thanks, Chris

Is this still going on? You don't mention any error messages, but for the past couple of days Spectrum and Charter had been having "invalid certificate" errors which were probably due to server problems. They eventually went away on their own.

Hi Yes, this issue is still going on. I can’t receive no e-mails. I did reply when I started having issues error messages on Thunder Bird e-mail. There were three of them. I am having the same errors as a few days ago when I reported my issue. These errors were not from Spectrum. If need be I can send them again . Please help, I need to start receiving my e-mails again. Thanks!!

OK, I now see that you started two separate threads about the same problem. That makes it very hard for me to follow.

I still need to know what the exact error messages are that you're getting. We have nothing else to go on.

Also, I made some suggestions about disabling your anti-virus and about checking web mail. Did you try them?

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! Yes, I have try both. My webmail from Spectrum is working . Sorry, I will send you the three errors tomorrow. I just want to get my incoming mail fixed and working.
