I have several accounts with GMX. Two work, and the other two display the above error message. Everything works when I log in via a browser, but not in Thunderbird. The account settings are identical for all four accounts except for the password and username.
What can I do?

Just a reminder: I think you must specify online that you want to use POP.

Please ask a question instead of bumping an old thread.
If the problem is inconsistent, your issue may be with GMX. There were some accounts reporting problems with that group a few weeks ago. If thunderbird's setting have not changed, yet it sometimes works and sometimes an error, that is coming from the GMX server, not thunderbird..
