emails sent file
My emails sent folder has 485 messages. Is there a way to delete them all at once instead of individually?
Also how do you check for new email if you're in the program. I have been shutting Thunderbird down and then opening it back up. Is there another way of doing this?

You can select all, rightclick and tick the trash can, or select the move to trash. to check for new mail, click the small icon to the left of the 'new message' button
The new message question was solved. As far as deleting the messages in the "Sent" folder, there is no select all option when I right click on the folder.
I don't usually give all the details. select the folder, then click edit>select>all (or click cntl and A) first
