Firefox on Windows XP

more options

I have an old laptop with Windows XP, which I only keep for a particular game that is on it, which I can’t play anywhere else. Now I figured I could also watch Netflix on it, to save me the trouble of taking my working laptop with me to bed. The only problem, Firefox won’t play Netflix movies. Some protected content crap. I tried Chrome as well. They all need some sort of a component that is apparently not there. Would there be any solution for it, to get Firefox to play Netflix movies on Windows XP?

Netflix requires the latest or at least a very recent version of the Widevine DRM plugin. Firefox should install that automatically but I don't know whether Firefox 52 is still compatible. Also, Firefox 52 couldn't play MPEG-encoded video on XP (no Microsoft Media Foundation was released for XP), so that's an issue even with DRM support.
