Hello and happy new year Mozilla & Thunderbird Community.

I am using Thunderbird since many many year, but right now and since +1 year I have big problems with the e-mails I have sent. Very often I try to take a look in an old e-mail I have sent to a client, business partner etc and then inside the correct e-mail (the subject looks correct or also the recipient address) there is a the text from another and totally different email. Sometimes also the date, time, recipient address etc. is wrong.

So I see the wrong original email and also the copy of that in a diffrent e-mail. And the mail i am looking at is missing - simply overwritten as if by another e-mail and the content.

And I dont know why...

The problem is active since nearly +1 year and I can't find any solution. The only one would be right now to "leave" Thunderbird behind me - but I love it.

Can you please help me here?

I am using it right now on my new MacBook 14 Pro Max and with the actual macOS Monterey 12.1 version. But the problem was also there on my older 13 inch MBP before...

I am happy to hear back from you guys. Maybe someone can help me!?

All the best, stay safe & healty and enjoy 2022, Daniel

Chosen solution

Sound like the actual email is out of sync with the index.

Right click on 'Sent' folder and select 'Properties' Click on 'Repair Folder' click on OK Select another folder and then reselect 'Sent' folder.

If you're using the Global Search feature to find the old emails, the Global database may need rebuilding. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database

If you're looking directly in the sent folder, try repairing the sent folder.
