After installing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Clicking on Firefox or Thunderbird it hangs the computer and have to switch off the computer on main switch. Reinstall Mozilla once but no difference still hangs Ubuntu. Need help on this one Thank you
Chosen solution
Try these steps:
- open the terminal
- type sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade (this command will update all your installed applications and can take a while; if you don't want to update your apps, you can leave this step out)
- type "sudo apt install firefox" (you need root privileges)

First install method was with Ubuntu 20.04 installation. The second i rename Mozilla directory and from installed Ubuntu reinstall Firefox there was no improvement. There is only one user and that is me. I had on this computer a previous Ubuntu version (16.04) with Firefox and Thunderbird working correct.
Hi Lumaja, did you install firefox from the apt repository?
No it was direct from Ubuntu and download with qbittorrent.

Firefox is completely updated, but still hanging
Ubuntu 18.04.1 Firefox 91.0.1-1
Chrome works fine, but I prefer Firefox
I'll launch FF, see if the scroll bar works on a very simple html site, it lags. If I close it quickly, my whole machine doesn't hang. If I let it run, I can't even switch over to a terminal to kill it.
Please fix it.
