I've been using Firefox to play YouTube videos in desktop mode while my screen is off. But now it only plays for around a minute then it stops.

Oh, did that work before? I did not know that.

For the mobile site, there is an add-on named "Video Background Play Fix" that prevents the page from detecting that you turned off the screen. Currently, this add-on is not available on the regular release of Firefox for Android, only on the alpha test release, Firefox Nightly. I'm not sure how soon it will come to the regular release.
