why do my firefox 59.0.2 (64-bit) bookmarks not stay organized
Win 7 Pro OS I installed a new version of Firefox using my old profile. I noticed the some of my bookmarks were not in the order I expected (Still in the same folder, but not the same order). Using "Show All Bookmarks" I tried moving the bookmarks around by dragging and dropping and they would end up two or three places above where I put them. Once I mostly got them where I wanted I would exit using the "Close" option. Clicking on a folder on the Toolbar, I would again find the bookmarks moved from where I had placed them.
Help!! ( My sort order is set to "Unsorted")
Thanks, Steve

Hi, I would suspect some corruption some where. Possibly the Profile. Always :
- https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/export-firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Try :
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem. Never work with original files.
If it is only bookmarks you care about then the process is simple.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Pkshadow,
I tried several of the items above: Removing and importing Bookmarks did not help New profile did not help.
Following up with the corrupt file idea, I de-installed Firefox and removed all Mozilla directories. From the original PC, I ensured that Firefox was not running and then copied the Mozilla directory from ~\AppData\Roaming. I then copied the directory on to the new PC and re-installed Firefox. This worked perfectly!
Thanks, Steve

Are you using Sync to sync bookmark because that is a possible cause of corrupted bookmarks?
