A few months back my system started experiencing numerous slow-downs and freezes. After literally pulling my hair out in trying different scenarios and fixes, I finally realized that it is the FF doing all the damage. What made my diagnosis difficult was the fact that with IE i was experiencing similar issues, although not as frequenlyt. I finally uninstalled FF and switched to Chrome, and even I don't like it, I haven't had a problem in TWO WEEKS! PLEASE, FIX YOUR BROWSER - ONCE AND FOR ALL!
