Hi,

I've been using Thunderbird with Linux Mint 16 x64 for several months without any problem. Today, I've received a message stating "Could not connect to mail server myemail@ntlworld.com; the connection was refused".

My ISP has web mail access which I can log into. The settings have not changed.

The firewall on my system is not enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks.

Chosen solution

There is currently a problem affecting mail on Virgin Media (i.e. ntlworld). The estimated fix time is 22:30 UK time.

Have you checked with your email provider if they have any problems?

I had checked that I could log into the web mail but didn't think to check that. It has started working again so I'm sure it was VM's servers.

Thanks for the help.
