The password for my LDAP server keeps disappearing from the password manager. How can I get it to stay?

I enter the password when prompted. I check the save in manager box. After I finish and send the email I check the manager and it is there. Sometimes it keeps it for a while. Sometimes the next email I want to send it asks for it again and if I check, it is no longer in the manager.

Do you use a product like CCleaner? If yes, you need to stop CCleaner from scanning any thunderbird file or folder.

I have unchecked all of the boxes for Thunderbird in CCleaner. I guess now we wait and see.

Thanks again for the suggestion. It did not work. Thunderbird is still losing the password. It keeps the smtp and imap (which are a different server) but not the ldap.

For some unknown reason, it is possible that the password files have become corrupted and therefore not accepting changes.

If desired, you should record any stored passwords before doing the fix. either via 'Menu Bar: 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab

or via 'Mail Toolbar: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Passwords' tab

click on 'Saved Passwords' click on 'Show Passwords'

Why do this? Deleting the password files from the profile will erase all stored passwords.

Try this to fix. In Thunderbird 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information' click 'Open Folder' to open the profile name folder Exit Thunderbird now - this is important Delete or move these files to desktop.

  • keys.db
  • signons.sqlite
  • signons#.txt

Start Thunderbird.

I found a key3.db but nothing named signons. I moved the db file to the desktop and have restarted and re-entered the passwords. I will let you know.

Still no good. This is a new Windows 10 system if that helps any. Only a couple of weeks old.
