Gmail Emails are going into Deleted rather than Inbox. (bug2068847)

jilldfreeman

These are some things I have explored:

   • It is happening whether I look at emails in Thunderbird or through Gmail on Google Chrome
   • Even if I clickndrag them from deleted to inbox they fall back into deleted.
   • I’ve tried gmail/settings/all settings/filters and there aren’t any
   • I’ve tried gmail/settings/all settings/forwarding and there aren’t any
   • If I access Gmail via Microsoft Edge, the emails stay in Inbox
   • I’ve looked at various things in Thunderbird and unticked something in ‘When New emails arrive’ because I thought that might work.

It started happening about a week ago.

If you're using Thunderbird version 155.0, there's a bug in Message Filters that causes similar symptoms. The bug is fixed in 155.0.1.

Please let us know if 155.0.1 didn't fix it.

There is a follow up question...

Please update to 155.0.1 which has a fix. We are interested to know if that fix helps with the old filter...

If you add the blank condition back to a filter, does it now behave nicely (i.e. not badly) ?

Updating Thunderbird to 155.0.1 has fixed the problem. Emails are now landing in the Inbox and staying there until I action them. I had Thunderbird set to update automatically so I'm surprised I had to action this update myself. I'd rather not experiment now and possibly bring the problem back! I hope you understand.
