firefox 44 freezes at verify when trying to install add on (yahoo toolbar)OR claims connection failure
I have a Mac, and with firefox, I cannot get the yahoo toolbar to show up, it does show up on the mac in chrome, but not in my firefox, and I have looked in all forums, and my previous posts, were about my windows based computer, but that solution ( i found) did not or does not apply to the macbook pro ( old 2008) which does have yahoo toolbar in chrome, but its not here in firefox, and I have tried prior fixes as listed, but I get past the verifying when I change the about:config xpinstall to true, but then it sticks at claiming couldnot download due to connection failure, so this is something in the firefox settings, since I can see/use it in chrome on same old macbook. sometimes I need to use chrome browser other times, firefox, so i want it to work. i have the updated latest versions so it should not still be a problem but apparently is, in many forum questions, so firefox is aware but is just not dealing with it.

Here is solution, I checked various extensions: problem was with one called Pretty Install, once I removed/disabled, it now made it possible to go forward from verifying to allowing the installation. It is now solved.

What I might recommend is in the "+Customize" menu to make sure hat the toolbars are shown and the yahoo toolbar is put there.

True that, I can see many other also upset about it, no when I hit customize menu, no option for the yahoo toolbar, just others. I think beyond the yahoo toolbar, biggest gripe is I cannot download ANY apps as it keeps doing the verifying... and freezes and goes nowhere, no matter which app, it started out just about the yahoo toolbar, now its apparently that way for all.. Would think Mozilla would have some explanation and workaround/fix... but NO....
It is not Firefox you need to complain to it is a toolbar made by Yahoo with a Yahoo support site http://toolbar.yahoo.com/ Having said that I do not see any support link or support contact
Yahoo toolbar development may not have a good track record with Firefox. IIRC at one time they had a habit of shipping outdated insecure Firefox versions with the toolbars.
I note the current addon is only marked as having
been preliminarily reviewed by Mozilla https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/faq#preliminary
What does it mean if an add-on is "experimental" or "preliminarily reviewed"? Experimental add-ons have been checked by our editors to make sure they don't have security problems, but they may still have bugs or not work properly. If you have installed the addon you may write a review and may wish to include an observation that the addon is experimental, apparently faulty, and developed by Yahoo.
Why not keep control of your browser. Instead of installing the broken Yahoo toolbar consider just bookmarking and possibly pinning the yahoo site.

That goes as far as Yahoo toolbar, but the bigger issue, is not being able to install ANY ADDONS due to the verifying stage always freezing, that is the much more acute issue. Any solutions for that?
Sorry we seem to have overlooked that part of your comment. addons are generally fairly small files hows your internet connection ? I think it would have to be pretty bad before that would become a factor.
Do you have security software that may be scanning downloads ? Probably not as you appear to be using a Mac. I just tried it for the Yahoo toolbar and within a few seconds it had done the download and verify. I cancelled at that stage.
The signed addons and the relatively new install procedure is something I do not understand well enough to troubleshoot. Hopefully guigs will follow up on this today or next week.
Please post back so guigs sees the latest post is from you not me, as it will be more obvious then that you still have problems.
Yes my internet connection works fine, but this problem occurs on Mac and even on my Windows computer. I still hope Mozilla will supply a solution soon.
