Word attachments in protected mode

Hi there, for some reason I can’t enable editing now on word attachments, stuck in protected view. I’ve tried disabling the trust centre settings in word, uninstalled the latest updates to no avail. If I create a new profile in windows 11 and setup new mail account in thunderbird it works. I can’t see any settings in thunderbird to disable, I have tried various settings under security but nothing works. I’m using recently upgraded “latest” version of thunderbird??

The "file" you are attempting to edit in in the system temp folder, and once you leave word the changes will at best be saved in the temp folder, hence the difficulty in exiting the protected mode.

Changes are not saved in the attachment to the email. Ever.
