Hi! Sence the update my computer did a couple og hours ago, the X that you close a tab with is gone. I now need to right click on a tab an choose "Close tab" manuallt or do the ctrl+W. Much annoying! How do I get the X back so I can close each tab easily? Or it that something Mozilla removed entirely?

The X is still there, maybe a theme or an add-on is preventing you from seeing it? It also goes away if you have more tabs open than Firefox can show.

Try a refresh? Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Note that you may not see a close button on a tab if there are too many tabs open.

It is possible that the theme you use isn't compatible with Firefox 41.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
