Firefox (3.6.15 on Mac OS10.4.11) stopped saving my bookmarks some months ago. I have tried all the suggested soluons and still it will not 'record' any new bookmarks. It restores any open tabs and pages when I quit and reboot it. Very frustrating.

Precisely as above. I have been through the various articles and suggested fixes but they either do not apply or make no difference. The bookmark feature has just stopped working. the only applications downloads I have made are the automatic downloads that Microsoft and Apple send for the currently installed software

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
