Pinned favicons showing unread when nothing has changed

jbr replied

Every time I start Firefox, some of my pinned tab favicons will show an unread dot (although not consistently), even though there may have been zero changes to anything in that tab. Gmail is especially bad about this, making me think I have a new unread email when all of my emails have been read. How do I fix this? I looked in the Tab settings for Firefox and don't see anywhere I can change a setting.

This is handled by the site running in the tab.

If this is wrong just after a start, it basically means the sites have not loaded yet and are showing their last state most likely.

There are internal settings to force each tab to instantiate fully after a cold start, which in theory could force–update these for you, but might have performance impact in case you wanted to try going that route.
