Cannot update address book

When I add an address to my Address Book, it is not saved. Here's what I'm doing:

- From an email, I'll right-click on an address and select "Add to Address Book." If I click on the Address Book it appears there. - I close Thunderbird, reopen it, and the address no longer shows up.

I have restarted Thunderbird with add-ons disabled and the same thing happens (I only have one add-on, and I have disabled that just in case.)

Any idea what's going on??
