My Thunderbird has about 8 folders (inboxes). Each folder has from 10 to 30 subfolders. Every few minutes (about 10) Thunderbird goes into a 1 or two-minute wait. It is driving me crazy. Does anyone know what causes the wait state? Can I fix it? Should I just use a different mail program (Chrome)? Is it software or hardware problem? HELP! dov@gilor.com Thanks

The short answer, is there a couple dozen possible causes, so it's not possible to give a pat answer. A fairly complete set of possibilities is listed at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Memory_Usage_Problems and the early steps in that process often quickly point to possible causes.
