I have Firefox 52.2.1 (32-bit). Windows XP Service Pac 3. 2 gig ram.

Update channel is esr.

From mozilla ---- Firefox (esr update) is intended for groups who deploy and maintain the desktop environment in large organizations.....

I am not a large organization. Just a home desktop environment.

1- How did I get on esr update channel? 2- Should I be on it? 3- How do I get back to whatever channel preceded esr? 4- Should I go back?

I've tried re-installing, but it automatically picks esr to install.

Thank you.

Yes, that's very OK for you to use ESR channel. All users on XP and Vista systems have been transferred by Mozilla to this.
