What is the "Hide addresses when sending mail to this list" option for mailing lists?
From the label one would infer that when mail is sent to this list the names and email addresses would not be shown. However, as far as I can tell, it does not work. In the first place, if you check the box and save the list, the box is no longer checked when you open the list again. I thought it might be a "one time" option that had to be selected for each use of the list (I hope not) but when I save a list with the option checked and send mail to that list all the names or email addresses are in the message.
Am I confused or is this broken?

Where do you see this option? I haven't been able to find it.
I'm running T'bird 31.4.0 on Ubuntu 12.04 with Linux 3.13.0-46. When you open the properties for a mailing list you get a window where you can change the entries. At the bottom of the window is the "Hide addresses" options. I've attached a screenshot.
FWIW, 31.5.0 running on Win 7 does not have this option.
Can't you just send it as bcc
bcc will work and that's what I use. I just wonder what's the point of having an option that does nothing. And if it's suppsed to do something.
Users occasionally ask how to make a Mailing List use bcc by default and we usually have to answer that Thunderbird doesn't offer this. I suspect that you have an add-on that has introduced this feature.
I too use Linux, I'm using a later version of Thunderbird and I've never seen that option.
