Tab Groups Lost After Forced Shutdown - All Restoration Methods Failed.
Hello everyone,
My Firefox session closed unexpectedly due to a forced computer shutdown (Mac). Upon restarting, I lost the Tab Group I had open, which included several tabs that had not been recently loaded (suspended tabs).
My core issue is the loss of the Tab Group structure and the URLs of the suspended/unloaded tabs.
✅ Solutions I have already tried (and failed):
1. History Menu: The "Restore Previous Session" option was either unavailable or failed to load the groups. "Recently Closed Windows" also did not show the group.
2. Manual Session File Restoration: I tried replacing the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in my profile folder with the backups: recovery.jsonlz4 and previous.jsonlz4 (taken from the sessionstore-backups folder). This only restored a few active tabs but did NOT restore the group structure or the suspended/older tabs.
3. History Search: I checked the complete browsing history from the day of the crash (Ctrl+Shift+H). The suspended/unloaded tabs are NOT listed in the history.
4. Add-ons: I was NOT using a third-party extension for tab management. It appears to be a native or specific feature of my Firefox version.
Is there any other location where Firefox stores session backups, or a way to decode the previous.jsonlz4 file to extract the URLs of the suspended tabs that failed to load?
Thank you in advance for your help.
