I have been having this issue for a long long time now , but for some reason firefox refuses to play the mp3 files on certain sites . http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dota2.gamepedia.com/a/a5/Alch_spawn_04.mp3 Example this one .

I do not have any technical knowledge as to know why does it not work , i have no clue what is causing it. Thing is , i tried installing chrome , same thing ... no sound either.

Im using Windows 7 , if thats any help .

I tried googling stuff up , found bunch of *solutions* saying to install stuff , but i cannot even install them on my pc .

So yeah , question is ... is there any way to play that files ? I keep stumbling upon embedded audio , and its not working and its kinda frustrating to say the least :/

PS: Stuff is working fine on my tablet ....

Firefox version 44.0 Installed plugins:

  • Block miscellaneous advertisements
  • Google Update
  • Hola VLC media player Web Plugin
  • NPRuntime Script Plug-in Library for Java(TM) Deploy
  • Next Generation Java Plug-in 11.65.2 for Mozilla browsers
  • NVIDIA 3D Vision Streaming plugin for Mozilla browsers
  • NVIDIA 3D Vision plugin for Mozilla browsers
  • Pando Web Plugin
  • 6.0.12.448
  • RealPlayer(tm) LiveConnect-Enabled Plug-In
  • Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
  • Shockwave Flash 20.0 r0
  • Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5

Okay , i managed to solve the issue . Turns out there was some Driver that NVidia instaled , that was messing up with the other audio driver i had on the PC .

Solution was to go to Device manager . And under Audio Input/Output Uninstall any dirver there , and then just go trough the standart windows troubleshot for audio problem . It reinstaled fresh drivers , and the sound is working fine now .

So it seems it wasnt a Firefox related issue after all .

That link has nothibg to play. What is the web page you got it from?

Separate Issue; Your System Details shows;

Installed Plug-ins

Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0 Shockwave Flash 20.0 r0
Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Flash Player Version 20.0.0.286
https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html
Note: Windows users should download the ‘’’active_x’’’ for “Internet Explorer,” and the ‘’’plugin’’’ for “Plugin-based browsers” (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the ’’’plugin’’’ only. Not the ’’’active_x’’’.

Adobe still offers Flash 18.0.0.326 as its extended support release further down

Works for me with the built-in HTML5 media player.

Doesn't that work as well if you open the link in a tab?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: 3-bar Menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

There are other things that need attention.

Your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.

  • Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0
  • Shockwave Flash 20.0 r0

You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.

You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove older version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and possibly (re)install the latest Flash player.

I clicked some of the players, no problem. Did you click the player icon, or open in a new tab / window?

I tried both , clicking the play icon , and opening in new tab ... nothing works :(

I think tho , that this isnt firefox related issue . I tried to open them with Opera / Chrome and even Internet Explorer ... and none is playing any sound . I guess there is something else that is not working properly.

Type about:preferences#applications<enter> in the address bar. On the page search bar, enter mp3.

My Firefox uses the plugin from; http://www.videolan.org/ Download and install it.

I can't figure out how the scripts work on that site. Do you get the little play button animating, and then no audio?

I notice the site hosting the MP3 has CDN in its name. In the past, some users seem to have had URLs with "cdn" in them blocked for some reason. Do you have any external filtering software that might block such addresses? (Or filters that don't like the word "curse"?)

Did you check the Windows volume control to see if the sound is muted?

Yeah , the play arrow does animate after i click it . I dont think i have anything blocking CDN externaly , and i disabled my addblock plus ... I will dig alil bit more and see if there may be something that is indeed blocking the cdn extension ..
