Weird formatting in emails that I can't seem to change

When Thunderbird upgraded to Supernova I lost all formatting for text in emails and signature block.

I've tried saving various fonts and recreating work signature block but nothing seems to work. The font that continues to appear is a basic courier style.

I've saved a pdf of various emails, with the first few being the current view I get and that recipients would see. The second last page is a copy from a previous "sent" email with my signature block, and the last page with a "reply" ready to go to that 2nd last page where the loss of formatting is very obvious. I would like to upload these but I'm not able to as it is not an 'image" file.

Any help to try and work out what has happened and how to fix it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi, I've updated Thunderbrid to 102.5 and Quick Text has disappeared and looks like it's no longer compatible. It's something I use all the time. If it's not available as there any other ad-ons that are similar? Can I go back to the previous version as I had a lot of templates set up in it that I would like to access and save? Thanks

I would like to suggest an improvement to the way Thunderbird handles email aliases. The current setup is somewhat cumbersome, especially since every place I sign up to gets an alias (I can create an infinite number of them, and if I get spammed, I know who the culprit is). What I would like to do is simply compose a new message, and enter an alias there. Is this feasible? It would be so much simpler this way.

Some emails I have received are being put into a Spam folder by Thunderbird but there is no Spam folder visible and they have [spam} inserted into the subject header and emaisl from this sender have never been received anywhere but my Inbox.

I have to search all messages to find out where the message has gone and it shows as in a Spam folder. I then have to flag it as Junk, go to my Junk folder and flag it as Not Junk before it appears in my Inbox.

I am using POP3 email accounts and Thunderbird 102.7.0 (64-bit) and have never had this issue before.

I have attached 3 screenshots showing: 1) The email on the account server showing that there is no [spam} in the subject title. 2) The email as picked up by Mailwasher Pro and as it is highlighted in green, this shows that Mailwasher Pro has identified it as friendly according to my Spam settings and again, no [spam] in the subject title. 3) The email in Thunderbird after I moved it into my Inbox but you can see [spam] has been added to the subject title!

I have looked at other posts relating to this so it definitely appears to be a problem and if I could at least see the Spam folder, I would have a temporary workaround until this is fixed so if anyone can tell me how to see the Spam folder, that would help at least for now!

Thanks.

I'm using Thunderbird 102.11.0 64bit EN-GB version. I used Thunderbird for many years and have just returned to it. When I use the inbuilt add-ons manager it goes to the en-gb extensions site ( not unexpectedly, but I'm slightly surprised there is more than one site.) If I specify my version of Thunderbird it supplies outdated and/or unsuitable extensions which will not work with my version of Thunderbird. After a Usenet discussion I tried getting them from the en-us version of the site and got at least one extension that worked OK. However, subsequently the same has happened from the en-us address, despite specifying the correct version of Thunderbird, extensions fail from there too. For example the "Open Google Calendar" extension sort of works but has random text overwriting parts of the the calendar. Others are similar. My questions therefore are:-

1) Are the en-us and en-gb sites really separate sites, or am I wasting my time specifying which site I use? 2) Is the extension system really as comprehensively broken as it seems to be? 3) Is anyone doing anything about it? I don't know where to contact the devs direct. 4) I not, what on earth is the problem?

Failing all else can anyone point me to any more help on the topic. I can't find anything on this support site. I haven't been to Bugzilla yet - past experience dictates that it takes forever to get answers there (if at all) and I'm hoping to cut out some of the wait the wait. I'm getting very old now and may not have that long :-)

Regards,

Bob

If I mark a message as Unread, it appears in the list of messages in boldface type. But I am finding it very hard to distinguish those in bold from other messages that have been read and are not bold. Is there anything in advanced settings that would allow me to change the fill colour in the listing box, or perhaps the colour of the type, in order to distinguish unread messages more visibly from those I have read? Thanks!

In "Composition" I have changed the font to "New Times Roman". I find no save or OK button, it remains set. Yet when I send e mails even though it is set they are sent in a default Font and size. What do I set to have the selected Font in Writing e mails? Also have tried the "Format" when composing an e mail with the same unsatisfactory result. It is set to New Times Roman however sends in a default font.

Managing Sender Identity from Different SMTP or Standalone Sender Identity without Inbox

Hello, I want to make an email with two sender identity from different SMTP. Is that possible? One inbox for mail A, but sent as mail A or mail B with each own SMTP.

Case:

  1. Mail A has IMAP and SMTP access
  2. Mail B has SMTP access
  3. Mail A and mail B has different SMTP
  4. Mail B has no IMAP/POP access but all email received are forwarded to Mail A

Purpose: Send email like normal (choose one click sender, then write the rest of mail) using email with only SMTP access

It works well if they are on the same SMTP. As each account can only have one SMTP, I have to change SMTP manually to mail B after sending mail as mail A. It works for sending (by changing SMTP details) but not efficient.

Or maybe, is there a way to create send-only mail without inbox?

Thinks like Gmail feature... In Gmail, Send emails from a different address or alias feature-like is probably what I'm looking for. Its alias can have its own unique SMTP setting, but only have one inbox.

It works too, but want to setting this in Thunderbird if possible.

Hi,

My reading pane on v115 will only adjust downwards but I would like to adjust it upwards as was possible in previous versions.

Just to confirm what I mean, it will only go down, so making the reading pane smaller (or disapppear) and the thread pane larger.

I would like to make it go the opposite way, upwards to make the thread pane smaller.

Is there some code, css etc that can make it happen correctly?

I have my Thunderbird set to IMAP with my lln****@gmail account. I also have other identities (c****j@pobox.com; c****r@pobox.com, etc.). When I compose an email, I can choose which identity to use. However, the receiver of the email sees the email as coming from lln****@gmail, not the identity I sent it with. (When they click reply, it goes to the identity.) I would like my IMAP address lln****@gmail to be completely invisible to others.

How can I do this? How can others who receive emails that I send, ONLY see the identity I sent it from?

Thank you in advance for help!

I use Thunderbird for my work emails and the other day I opened the program and everything looked and functioned differently.

If I responded to an e-mail I used to get a copy of mine inline with the thread, and now that just isn't there.

In addition, the threads aren't together the way they used to be. I try to scroll through an email thread and now I have to click on the emails individually.

Is this an update, or did a setting get accidentally changed? Can I get it back to how it was? I'm not tech savy so if you want me to share settings please explain how to find them like you're talking to a child... I just want my email to be easy to use like it was before

Is there a way to separate the accounts in Thunderbird? If not How do I delete all the email accounts connected to the main email account, without affecting any email accounts outside of Thunderbird so that I can then add them individually?

I have a userChrome.css to change the color of unread messages in the "list of messages" pane to orange:

/* Messagepane text */ treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(new) {

       color: #34ebdc !important;
       font-weight: normal;

} treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) {

       color: #34c6eb !important;
       font-weight: normal !important;

}

This worked fine in TB 102 and prior. When I upgraded to TB 115 this no longer has any effect. I'm not sure if the userChrome.css is being ignored or if the styling elements in userChrome.css have changed.

I'm on Windows 11 and userChrome.css is located in 2 places: C:\Users\$username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\$profile.default\chrome\userChrome.css C:\Users\$username\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\$profile.default\chrome\userChrome.css

Threading is something I, and indeed large numbers of Thunderbird users, do NOT want, ever.

Please provide an option to disable threading, across all folders, all acounts.

Even worse, the option to Ignore Thread, is simply a way to lose emails. To have a shortcut to hide a message, without even knowing, is crazy. Given how poor Windows control of focus is, and how easy it is to start typing but actually still be in the email listings, its inevitable that you will hit e.g. K or A or whatever, and cause bizarre effects or lose emails.

So I want to disable threading to avoid losing emails. I would also like to disable Archiving, and other functions, that are all simply ways to lose emails by accident.

Thanks.

I need to style the message list, and I have googled /chaptGPT'd a lot.

I've set the toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets flag to true in the config panel.

Created a "chrome" folder in the profile folder as indicated by "Help/Troubleshooting Information" and added a userChrome.css file in the folder. Even added a "profile" folder within that and copied the folder and file to there.

Added some CSS to the file

  1. threadTree > treechildren {
 font-size: 12pt !important;
 color: red !important;

}

treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(unread) {

  font-style: italic !important;
  font-weight: bold !important;
    background-color: #ffffff !important;

}

Restarted and nothing is changing.

How can I change the font size in the message list and the folder list? No issues with CSS styling.
