I am running win 10 (64) with thunderbird 102.6.1 (64-bit) and in the past 2 days keep getting a pop-up from ieee - I was a member. I contacted ieee and my account was deleted. A full scan using current version avast free did not find anything. I tried logging in and was rejected.

When this pop-up appears, there is an additional listing in task manager under thunderbird.

I find it extremely annoying to keep getting this pop-up.

I am also using comodo firewall.

I am also contacting avast and comcodo.

Any suggestions etc would be appreciated.

Thunderbird automatically upgraded to version 102.3.1 (32-bit) this morning when my Windows 10 computer restarted after a Windows Update. Since then, Task Manager shows thunderbird.exe to be consistently using 5-10% of the CPU. If I go to offline mode, the usage goes to 0. This is new behavior after the upgrade. Any suggestions for fixing that would be appreciated.

Hi Friends, I'm using thunderbird portable and this bug happened some months ago and I didn't find any solution at all.

thunderbird portable is not showing the fields (From, To) but they aren't empty! if I clicked on reply to mail the from e to data appear (because they exist).

this is creating a problem for me because in order to see the "from and to" fields of a received email, I need to click on "reply" for the fields to appear.

I tried to restart on debugger mode with the 2 debugger options marked but the problem still happened.

need help. tks

Hi, I have 6 accounts with the same domain. When I change the username on the SMTP server, they all change to the same username. Strange?

When I Edit SMTP server and change the username, all the accounts immediately change to that username. If I select another SMTP server Description, same result, if the IP address is the same. It seems as though the default has gone awry?

I use Yahoo Mail. I am receiving a [TRYCREATE] select error on Junk below Archive. This is a dead folder.

In the Trash, the subfolder "Junk" is my SPAM folder for Yahoo Mail.

I want to have the subfolder junk replace the folder junk and stop the [TRYCREATE] select error place.

What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Hi there,

since a couple of releases since I installed thunderbird on my MacBook, I got the problem that the counter displays 99+ unread messages when everything is read. It only transforms to a no red dot icon when I have 3 unread messages across my accounts, and then if more come in starts to count up. I waited thinking it's just a bug on one release (as it suddenly started doing it after an update, but I don't remember what version that was) but after receiving the newest update (Version 102.9.1 (64-Bit)) it is still not fixed.

I have tried changing the system settings for the icon (disabling this red dot and then turning it back on) but it didn't work.

Any other suggestions?

I was adding a contact like I usually do and part of the form is off the right end of the screen and I cannot add the last name. This is a new problem. I tried re-sizing the column with the contacts and the two sided arrow appears but won't let me do anything with it. The screen settings are as recommended. There must be a way . . . . . .

Migrated all of my email identities from older Windows 10 computer (Toshiba Satellite) to newer and faster computer (iMac with Bootcamp set to boot Windows 10). I had problem before with download speed (had to click Get Messages and wait through very long display of "Checking Inbox for new messages" several times, with the message disappearing without downloading any messages (which my iPhone, using native iOS Mail, had already received an hour or two ago), then downloading began, eventually ending with "xxx messages downloaded," but still behind the iPhone's inbox. The idea of migrating was to make it work faster, but this new computer seems to be even slower. In addition, when I click Get Messages "too soon," whatever that means, I get an error message titled "Error with account xxxx," with the text "The account xxxx is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages." But there is never any alert to tell me when the "processing" completes; I just have to wait a while and keep trying.

I do have a very large inbox, and also a number of messages (but there is no way to count them) open in tabs. I need to prune both, but I need decent response in order to do that (and I have to keep up with new messages at the same time). Any idea what I can do to get rid of this message and speed things up?

(My email is in att.net, meaning it is managed by Yahoo! The iPhone, naturally, uses the IMAP server, while Thunderbird on Windows uses POP3.)

When downloading messages from my yahoo mail account the will not load correctly and display the error message "a unique identity matching FROM address is not found" This has only happened since the last update and the messages are apearing as though from my BT connect account and I cannot open them. My BT account works fine and I can download the yahoo mail to my tablet which uses Outlook and I can access the Yahoo mail via my on-line account. I have tried clearing cache and running in compatability mode with no joy. I have had problems with updates before and have lost all my e-mails so am reluctant to try loading a new version.

The latest version of Thunderbird has added a big left pad to the header information on received emails. Previous versions didn't have this pad and all the header content butted up against the left edge of the display region. It's almost like someone added a couple of zeros to the display render code. Ie. previous version had a left pad of 5 pixels but this version has a left pad of 500 pixels. I have noticed this pad will vanish if I open an email full (not using the reading pane) and shrink the window down to be very small.

Memory leak / TB not responding on latest two versions after reading S/MIME signed email with links

Just this week I started having problems where Thunderbird hangs, apparently due to a memory leak, after viewing S/MIME signed emails containng embedded hyperlinks to a secure site that requires my certificate to login. This is on a Dell Precision 7550 running Windows 10, and Thunderbird 91.9.0 (also the previous installed version - I believe it was 91.8.1).

After clicking on such an email (which come from a known address and are forwarded to a specific folder by a rule), the email is slow or fails to load into the display window. Subsequent clicking on other folders has a delayed response or never responds. I sometimes get a message at the top saying (Not Responding), sometimes I can click on other email records or switch folders, but emails no longer display contents in the viewing pane - it stays blank.

The other think I noticed is the blue bar at the lower right which appears when compacting shows up with the bar at 100% but never goes away. To end the task I must use Task Manager. This behavior only occurs after I have clicked on signed email with links (but not the link itself) that require a login using the smartcard certificates. Prior to looking at the signed email with these links, TB operates normally (aside from the endemic new user interface issues) when viewing other signed or unsigned emails. Curiously, in my most recent restart of the program, I clicked on several messages from the source of the emails with the hyperlinks, but ones that did not link to the secure files requiring certificate access. One of these was encrypted and opened normally with my certificate, and after accessing this email, the emails with the secure hyperlink opened normally and did not result in TB not responding.

I believe this has something to do with TB and S/MIME configuration, and have verified this behavior does not occur in Troubleshooting mode. However, in Troubleshooting mode, I cannot access my PKI S/MIME certificates as the Broadcom smart card device is not present. I am attaching a task manager snip showing the memory leak (the memory used continues to increase with time, the CPU percentage stays roughly the same - unfortunately this file upload has a perpetually spinning circle and still says it is uploading, so I may have to try again). I have also included the Device Manager view associated with the S/MIME certificates in regular and troubleshooting mode which show the internal Broadcom device is not present in the latter instance. I need to have the functionality and security provided by the smartcard S/MIME certificates, so this is a major problem for me.

Comcast is apparently changing their email security. They sent the following out:

"Reminder: Your email application or device may be out of date

We noticed you're accessing your Comcast.net email through an older email application or device, such as an older smartphone. Unfortunately, some older devices, operating systems, and email applications don't support current security protocols and therefore put your data at risk.

We rely on specific security protocols to help protect data in transit, including anything you send through your Comcast.net email. To help safeguard your data, we are discontinuing the use of older security protocols that have been deemed less safe.

We recommend updating your out-of-date email application or speaking with a trusted resource about your device and the software you use to access your Comcast.net email.

If your device or email application is not up-to-date before we discontinue these older security protocols, you will not be able to use it to access your email as you do today. However, you will still be able to access your Comcast.net email by logging into connect.xfinity.com through an internet browser. "

This appears to be based on them dropping support for TLS, v1.1 and lower.

Currently I cannot send email, and can only receive. The error message that I get is shown in the attached picture file. This issue happens on my desktop system, and was confirmed by the same thing happening on my laptop.

Hi, I cannot get my outgoing connection to work. I have had message that said my incoming was ok but I cannot see any incoming mail, (TB locks up and says do not retry or the like). I have deleted TB and re-installed Ver. 115.8.1 (64 bit). I am using Win 10 on an older desktop. I have no difficulty getting and sending using Google mail account, I can log in and out without any problem. After a new TB install I enter my Name, my email address and Google password. Remember password is checked. I select POP, (a few times imap), incoming says pop3 SSL/TLS and POP.gmail.com For outgoing it says SMTP SSL/TLS and smtp.gmail.com and user name is my Google email address. I click "continue". NEXT; I get the popup showing a busted robot says user name or password not correct. On occasions I have seen the system searching for a password. Ultimately it may say contact supplier or the like. I have been down for 6 weeks and want to get back to TB, help will be appreciated. Bill bill.geneau@gmail.com

Hi. I have been using Thunderbird successfully with my email account for years. Recently a new problem has appeared. Generally, if I create a subfolder in Thunderbird I see it in the Comcast webmail, and vice versa. Sometimes, however, it doesn't carry through. I have some that are visible in webmail but don't show up in Thunderbird. I have removed and re-added the account to Thunderbird. Still they don't show up. I have checked with Comcast Support and they say that the account is fine. Is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Beginning today, Thursday October 20 2022, Thunderbird inbox is rejecting normal operations. Attempts to archive or delete messages have the message disappear for a moment before reappearing, along with an error message alert in the lower right corner of the screen. See attached. There may have been some problem with my ISP email server, Optimum Online, as I could not log in for a few hours to the web site. That problem stopped and I was able to log in and use the web page email, where I can manipulate the mail as expected. Changes made to the webmail inbox are properly reflected in Thunderbird. Thunderbird still rejects attempts to save or delete message, whether using menu commands or dragging and dropping on the desired directory. I have reinstalled 102.4.0 but the problem has not abated. All server and account settings are correct and have not changed since Thunderbird was working properly the day before. I have not yet deleted Thunderbird and reinstalled. I would prefer to wait to see if there is some other good advice before proceeding. Thanks for your time.
