Hi,

TB 115.8.1 on OpenSUSE 15.5, rpm based install. KDE/Plasma.

Had to install MS EDGE, as unfortunately one urgently needed device's firmware based webserver works only very restricted with Firefox. Firefox is defined as default browser. And is used by every apps, except TB.

-> TB opens every link in MS Edge, now. Which is definitively NOT want I want :)

Found this link (German): https://www.torstenkelsch.de/blog/2022/internet/emailclients/den-webbrowser-in-thunderbird-aendern/ which descibes the as it should work way, setting file type based rules for "file type" 'http'. Or also this: https://support.mozilla.org/de/kb/hyperlinks-nachrichten-funktionieren-nicht

-> No entry exists for "http", so no settings possible.

network.protocol-handler.external-default was and is still set to TRUE

As "file type" is missing, searched and found this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1330147 which is from 2021:

-> Checked that in fact there's no entry for "http" in my profile's "handlers.json"

As the last mentioned article is pretty old, 3 years, and archived, my questions:

-> is the missing "http" file type a bug? If so, TB in general or specific to my OpenSUSE based version? If so, I report this for OpenSUSE (only) -> If not a bug: Is editing "handlers.json" still the only way to solve this? -> As there's no entry for http, and Firefox is used by all other apps: Why/how is TB calling Edge instead?

Thanks in advance, Michael

Hi everyone,

I am trying to setup Thunderbird to work with my company Exchange account (have installed TBsync and provider for exchange tbsync). It works well but Thunderbird has created on the server sent/trash/archive/drafts folders instead of using the ones that exists, and thus I can't access my history when I am in Thunderbird.

Is there anyway to parameter this? I couldn't find any, there are only options to store in local or on the folder created by Thunderbird (see picture). Thanks in advance for your answers!

I have used Mail Merge add on in Thunderbirds for a number of years but today I have an issue that I just cannot resolve and exhausted all my avenues in what I know!

I have the data in the usual format - a .csv file - I then merge the data and it pulls through both the To Email and CC Email but then not merging any of the text within the body but instead leaving it blank. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve as spent a couple of hours trying various different things?

We have moved over to M365 and we have issues with the Undo function both keybind and coded function in Thunderbird. Outlook it works just fine, but in Thunderbird it seems to not work and the function is just greyed out.

Scenario: Moves the mail from Folder Inbox to Folder Courier, but realize that it needs to be in Folder Content, so wish to move it back with Ctrl + Z or the Undo function in the Edit tab. Function doesn't work.

Is this how it is because of server syncing, or is there something we can do as permission to our employees?

Thank you in advance.

Using Reply/Reply-All on mailing lists sets my FROM field to the mailing list address when using multiple identities

Hi there,

I use Thunderbird 91.9.1 (64-bit) and have multiple identities (let's say a@foo.com, b@foo.com, c@bar.com) set up and also use the "Reply from this identity when delivery headers match" option. Most of the time this works great but when answering to mailing lists (where none of my addresses is in the TO field) there is a bug.

Let's assume the email was sent to the mailing list is importantlist@foo.com without any other recipients. When I press Reply or Reply-All, Thunderbird sets the FROM field to the mailing list (i.e. importantlist@foo.com), which unfortunately doesn't make sense. It displays the error message

"A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and settings from identity <<matched identity>>".

Here, Thunderbird actually finds the correct identity as setup via "Reply from this identity when delivery headers match" as it is displayed instead of <<matched identity>> in the error message. I have another account set up with only a single identity and here it always uses this address to answer to whatever email. I can manually change the from address to the correct one, but that's pretty annoying. Moreover, I then have to manually add the mailing list to the TO field as Thunderbird only replies to the sender.

What I'd expect: As Thunderbird already finds the correct identity, it should use this. If it can't match anything, it should use the default identity. This would resemble the behavior of the single identity case in my opinion.

I'm happy to provide more details if you need something.

Thans in adavance!

Cheers, Eicke

More a suggestion than a question.

I had problem to change my "sound", but finally installed a .wma sound and it works fine.

Now a suggestion: change the menu to change the sound with only a .wav sound, instead of the current BIG list. For the fun, I found the http:\\www.soundrangers.com who produced sound of the background themes installed from Windows. It's still open.

How to change default outgoing message font in Thunderbird for Windows?

I am normally a Mac user, where Thunderbird already defaults to my preferred Arial font for outgoing messages. Now I am setting up a Windows 10 install for a class I need to take, and Thunderbird insists on using Times New Roman as my font for all outgoing messages.

I found the setting for "default font" under Preferences, but I am not sure what its purpose is. First, the default was set to Cambria, which was not the font displayed for anything in the app. I tried changing it to Arial and it did absolutely nothing. My incoming messages still appear how they should, in the typical Arial font specified by the sender, but when I reply, I have to manually set the font each time if I want it anything other than Times New Roman. I looked at the Advanced setting, but they made no sense to me, and Times New Roman was NOT one of the fonts selected for any of the settings.

So how do I set the default outgoing message font to something other than Times New Roman? Is there a reason Mozilla does not use the same defaults across Mac and Windows versions? Why does this have to be so complicated?

Thanks for any help, this is really annoying.
