Emails with different subjects are getting threaded together. For example, in the attached snapshot, why are the emails with subject "Bid S011090833" getting threaded under "Hein Revised Hall Bath..."?

Perhaps I don't understand how Thunderbird determines messages have a common thread.

Using Thunderbird 115.4.1 (64-bit)

Turn off Messages as list or thread

Thunderbird displays messages as a long list. It never did that before an update, and now I can not find out how to turn that nonsense off! I don't want to see every me… (read more)

Thunderbird displays messages as a long list. It never did that before an update, and now I can not find out how to turn that nonsense off! I don't want to see every message from some person tabbed across the screen when I search for their name. I want to just pick one message, often a recent message.

How do I search for a message from a random person and only get one message I choose to view?

I want to turn off ALL threads in Thunderbird.

Just the last two days TWO IMPORTANT messages (from two different people) on my computer did not display in my email feed, I only saw them by accident on my phone..

I have searched very, very many times to change the settings, but regardless of what I do, it doesn't help..

I have tried "View / Sort by / Unthreaded", it doesn't work.. I have tried to look for the "Organize Mail by Thread" in Settings, I cannot find it. I have spent SOOOO much time trying to find out about this, but not been successful... (It is NOT the first time this has happened!)

Can anyone help??

I recently and reluctantly converted from my Eudora mail client to Thunderbird about two months ago and I keep having this same problem. I am not sure if I have the correct settings activated so hopefully someone may be able to advise. I have Windows 10, laptop Accessing a "********@usa.net" address via "smtp.postoffice.net" "port 587" Problem is that my junk, sent, draft, trash messages re download when I log back in again. My understanding is that Thunderbird only downloads the headers whereas my Eudora downloaded the complete message so is the fact that it is only the headers being downloaded that it then re downloads them when logging back in?? It is so frustrating having to wait for these messages to download AGAIN when I am just trying to check my emails quickly. Can anyone advise what I might be doing wrong or what settings may need tweaking? Thank you

I have 3 email accounts two of the email accounts keep using the same user name in the SMTP Server settings. I have to keep changing it in order to send or receive emails. If I dont I get this window error which is attached or below.

Hello i wanted to move my emails storage from c/user/user/appdata.... to d/thunderbird/profile.... results a lost all... i have 2 or 3 email accounts i cant attach the new D/ .../rpfile/8dsw...to others 2 email account only to 1 so i decide to get back ( C/ user/.../profile/8dsw... still in pc ) and get no more emails on 3 account and i if i add the profile file (8dsw...) to 1 email account show me all file associated to the account but nothing in inbox... ahhh misery misery ... Sending of message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.kingharald.co.uk. Please check password and verify the Authentication method in Account settings/Outgoing server (SMTP). Emails work ok for a while, then I get a few days of this error message and then it seems to fix itself. It's not working just now. How do I fix this?

My dad's email passwords opened his account until August 2021. He had passed away 3/23/2021. I had been operating all of his accounts when he became unable to, and I printed out all of his various passwords so I wasn't having to ask each time. I have enough of my own passwords to deal with. I normally wouldn't need to look at his emails, but some of our linked accounts are attached to his email address. Property tax, electric account, etcetera. So to reset some of the linked account passwords the emails go straight to his T-bird email. I'm tired of hearing the, "For security reasons, we can't assist you." from the various services. So after reading the different answers on how to do this I'm still stuck. Dad never used Firefox on the computer I got for him so I'm stuck. If I install Firefox on his computer I still need his password to change the password. Help.

The minimum number of visible in the list of received emails

Formerly I could decide the window size for the number of minimum visible received emails in the list down to 3. But for any reason the minimum now is 10. Which does that… (read more)

Formerly I could decide the window size for the number of minimum visible received emails in the list down to 3. But for any reason the minimum now is 10. Which does that the space for text content is reduced a lot. How can I get back the former possibility?
