My bookmarks toolbar is empty. When looking through the bookmarks menu, it shows that none of my bookmarks have been removed, and they are all still listed as being present in the Bookmarks toolbar, but they are not displayed in such. To be clear, bookmarks toolbar is enabled, and I have already verified its positioning in the customize toolbar pane. There is a strip of empty space where they used to be, but they are simply missing now. How do I fix whatever issue caused the toolbar to cease displaying my bookmarks?

Firefox says I need a video codec to play a video (that is aparently somewhere on the page). It does NOT tell me what video, what video format, or what codec I need. How do I find out what codec I need?

I am trying to download a spreadsheet file which has a .xlsx extension. Firefox insists on downloading the file (my default action) but I want to be given the option to open in my spreadsheet program (Libreoffice).

Looking in Settings and scrolling down to Files and Applications -> Applications, there are other spreadsheet formats present but not one for .xlsx. How do I add the "Always Ask" option for .xlsx files?

Libreoffice is the default system application for opening these files.

For some whatever-reasons (TLDR; I need to see the whole domain (including subdomains) clearly, unlike the default of only highlighting the TLD&second-level domains[1]) I want to disable the color-distinction which highlights TLD and second level domains.[2] Is there config to do so? If not where should I propose one?

[1]: for example ko.wikipedia.org and en.wikipedia.org will have wikipedia.org highlighted, and that's what I can't accept because ko.wikipedia.org (Korean) and en.wikipedia.org (English) is completely different site. (Some might say you can distinguish by language, but there are some English sites which shares the same domain on wikimedia.org, so you get the point here.) [2]: From the screenshot you can see only `wikipedia.org` is highlighted. I want to make it highlight all of en.wikipedia.org. (If I need to highlight everything including the site path below the TLD, I can accept that.)

I am reinstalling Windows\Firefox, and would like to hide\remove Bookmarks Toolbar & Other Bookmarks, as shown on the images. The Delete Folder option is greyed out for both, and Other Bookmarks is empty.

Both were hidden\removed in my original installation, but I can't remember how I did that. I've seen posts mentioning e.g. browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 (it doesn't exist) in About:config, right-clicking on the Other Bookmarks and uncheck it (it doesn't exist).

I'm using Firefox 101.0.1 (64 bit).

I'm running 101.0.1 and spell check no longer works on any mail app like Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, BT Mail. If I use Chrome or Edge then spell check works correctly. This is despite my Firefox Settings being as below.....

Language Choose the languages used to display menus, messages, and notifications from Firefox. ENGLISH GB Set Alternatives… ENGLISH GB Choose your preferred language for displaying pages. Choose… ENGLISH (United Kingdom) (en-gb) Check your spelling as you type = Tick (Yes)

Could you please advise a fix?

I used a siteblocker and i tried blocking about:addons, wouldn't allow it so someone tell me how. im literally trying to prevent myself from removing extension i literally jumped from one browser to another just to make this shit possible please.

I'm trying to load a temporary add-on on my browser, but when I click the button "Load temporary add-on", nothing show up.

I tried to look for errors in the console or debugging tool, but nothing. With snap, I removed with the purge option my Firefox and install it again, but the issue still appears.

Some technical details: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Firefox version 101.0.1 (64-bit) Mozilla Firefox Snap for Ubuntu canonical-002 - 1.0

For ‘few a few weeks now the option to choose where to save files has failed, even with the latest 101.0.1 (64-bit) on windows 11 Home. Any ideas?

This evening I changed the default location to my data area, so at least it will hopefully defaulting to ms 'downloads' folder.

I use an addon to mute all tabs by default. The problem is that muted tabs have the MUTED text, which shrinks the size of the tab name/title. My old eyes can't deal with that very well.

Is there any way to prevent this text from showing up globally? Thanks.

I just upgraded to Monterey on my Mac running FF 101.0.1 (64-bit). I cannot add new search engines to my list of search engines. I'm trying to add DuckDuckGo without success. I have Google, Bing and Startpage. I click on Find More Search Engines, select and add DuckDuckGo but while it appears as an extension it does not appear in the list of search engines.

Various website that contain dynamic content are not being rendered by Firefox to display that content. This is happening with websites that provide transportation information and ticketing, including Amtrak and Peter Pan Bus Lines . It is also happening with a genealogical website, FamilyTreeDNA, on pages that should be displaying family tree information. Illustrations of two pages are attached. I have been able to access the information by using Opera on this same computer and operating system, and by using the same version of Firefox installed on a different computer with different operating system. I am not sufficiently proficient with website development to know or understand what type of dynamic content is being generated by these websites, or how Firefox interprets the content. My suspicion is that some Firefox setting has been enabled or disabled, but I do not know which one it would be.

Greetings, I've checked a few articles in Firefox to help with my question, but none of them are helping. (Here's the main article: http://example.com.) Here's the situation. Say I go to a website's Contact page and click the button to contact someone, a window appears and asks me what app I want to use to open the email. Gmail is my default email, and Firefox is my default browser, and I use Windows 10. When I open the window of options (see attached screenshot) to open the email, and I then click "Choose Other Application" (other than Firefox), I don't see the Gmail app anywhere. I then followed the directions in that link above to check my Windows settings, per its suggestion, which I did ... but in those settings, too, I got to a point where the directions no longer matched what I'm seeing on my screen. I didn't see the Gmail app anywhere. Could you let me know in simple layperson's terms how to open Gmail links in Firefox? I don't have a PhD in computer science, so please keep it very simple. I am running Firefox v101.0.1 (64-bit) on Linux (Pop!_OS, installed as a flatpak). I am using the default system theme in dark mode, though switching to the Firefox dark theme or other themes does not change anything. When I allow the Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, etc.) to be present, the browser tabs on the next line are aligned correctly, going all of the way to the left. When I uncheck the Menu Bar, however, a gap appears to the left of the tabs. I have not seen this behavior on Firefox in other environments (Debian, RHEL, Windows), and I'm wondering if there's a way I can remove that gap. I have attached screenshots showing how the tabs are aligned with and without the Menu Bar.

Hi, Just installed Ubuntu on a new laptop, with Firefox. No add ons.

Have changed my homepage to www.duckduckgo. Have changed my default search engine to duckduckgo. In about:config my browser.startup.homepage says www.duckduckgo.

Have also changed browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID to www.duckduckgo.com and browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone to www.duckduckgo.com

But STILL, every time I start Firefox, I'm taken to google.com. Please cn someone tell me how to stop google coming up when I start Firefox.

i had a big problem with windows 10 action center (it won't open at all) only one solution was creating new Microsoft profile and move all files from one to another (including downloads documents desktop and whole appdata folder with firefox inside included)

and theoretically all works fine. I have my firefox account, history, tabs, favorites, theme and plugins, but they have blank icons and doesn't work.

is there any way to automatically redownload and reinstall plugins?

I would like to add that I have 3 browsers (profiles) and different plugins in each.
