We have been using Thunderbird with a Cox email account. Cox has just transferred all its customers to Yahoo. I want to use Thunderbird with Yahoo. How do I set that up?

Cox Communications recently discontinued its e-mail services but provided a simple, direct transfer path to Yahoo Mail. The transfer retained the '@cox.net' referent in the e-mail address -- e.g., 'myusername@cox.net' -- to make the transition to Yahoo Mail seamless for all correspondence. The new Yahoo Mail username also now includes the '@cox.net' referent -- e.g., the former 'myusername' under Cox is now 'myusername@cox.net' under Yahoo. The transfer was successful, and e-mail send & receive functions for all of my old Cox accounts now work on the Yahoo Mail servers -- but ONLY in Yahoo's webmail.

in order to get Thunderbird to recognize my existing accounts under the new Yahoo regime, I went to 'Set Up Another Account > Email' and entered the required information, as illustrated in the attached screenshots. (See attachments 01 & 02.) The Set Up procedure initially found the old Cox server settings, apparently from Mozilla's archived data for the account. I Then performed a manual configuration, and, as indicated in the attached screenshots, the Set Up procedure also successfully found the new Yahoo Mail servers. Success, right?

Wrong! When I restarted Thunderbird, the new Yahoo Mail server settings were in place, but the username had not been updated -- it lacked the '@cox.net' suffix. After manually amending the username and again restarting, the new server settings and amended username were in place, but connection to the Yahoo servers failed repeatedly. (See attachment 03.) A second round of the 'Set Up Another Account > Email' procedure revealed that the archival Mozilla data had not been updated -- it still pointed to the old cox.net settings -- and a second manual configuration led to the same results as the first: Thunderbird failed to connect to my account on the Yahoo Mail servers.

I then looked for a way to completely remove the existing account from Thunderbird, and then to create a new account from scratch for the existing account on Yahoo Mail. I consulted Thunderbird online support advice [ref. 'Close My Account - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1395523 ]:

"If you created a mail account in Thunderbird for a particular email address to download emails from server then you can easily remove it ( Menu icon > Account Settings -- Select name of account in Left Pane -- Click on 'Account Actions' -- Select :'Remove Account'. -- Restart Thunderbird. ),"

However, I could find no 'Remove Account' selection anywhere in the version of Thunderbird that I am using (ver. 115.9.0 - 64-bit)!

Please explain what I must do:

   1. to make an existing Thunderbird account originally set up for an old '@cox.net' address hosted on Cox servers now connect to a new '@cox.net' address hosted on Yahoo Mail servers; 

or, alternatively,

   2. to remove all traces of an existing Thunderbird account originally set up for an old '@cox.net' address once hosted on Cox servers, and then to set up a new Thunderbird account for the same '@cox.net' address now hosted on Yahoo Mail servers.

Hello, I have migrated my thunderbird onto a new windows system but I now get not automatic download of messages, the only messages I might get is if I close down Thunderbird and reopen. Get messages does not do anything - not even sure its attempting to communicate with server .

Is there anything I can do or change ? I have literally spent almost trying various things and I am the point of giving up and trying a completely different email client. There should be a seamless migration method but it appears there is not.

Need to set up Thunderbird to receive emails from yahoo. Cox is transitioning emails to yahoo presently have two addresses : cliven@cox.net and daciaandclive@cox.net

The Import from seamonkey does not work, it doesn't do anything, select it and the continue button does nothing when clicked.

Everything I have is in Seamonkey Mail (2.53.18.1) and I am trying to get them out. all I want is all my mail folders, don't care about the rest of the settings, all contacts are in my gmail , it's just all the mail folders

You cannot see from the screen shot but clicking the button does totally nothing, all the seamonkey folders are name & name.msf

I have been getting the "new version available, download now nag for over 2 weeks, and I have the latest version. Still get this issue repeatedly every day. Starting to become an every hour nag to update and install latest version of Firefox. Refuse to use Microsoft Edge or Chrome, and will switch off Firefox too if not rectified.

When installing 115, I get to a page that says "Just one more step! Finish installing, and start enjoying Thunderbird." But there is no "Finish" or similar button. What do I do?

I've read the "fixes" from 2023 and they do not work for me. I tried changing the DESCRIPTION to blank, didn't work. Changed them to the corresponding e-mail for the account. Didn't work. Changed it to "SMTP" with the corresponding e-mail. Didn't work.

It keeps changing the last one I edit to the one I edited before it. It's driving me crazy. Won't send mail unless the User Name is correct (obv.)

Whole mess started when forced to switch from Cox to Yahoo recently. Seems to be working other than TB changing the name as soon as I type in the next one in the next email address and then it not working until I change the User Name back to the proper e-mail address of the 6 accounts.

Hello, I need help. I downloaded and installed Firefox (latest version), the icon appears in the taskbar, but when I click on it, FireFox does not launch and I always get the same error message. I uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted the PC, but I still have the same problem, even starting from firefox.exe in Windows (C:) >Programs>Mozilla Firefox. Could it be possible that Microsoft is blocking the launch of Mozilla Firefox? Thank you in advance for your help. Attached is a screenshot of the error message. Firefox bookmarks exported from old Windows PC to html file. File transferred to new Windows PC and imported into Firefox. 'Bookmarks Imported Successfully' message seen. However no bookmarks visible in Firefox bookmark menu. Suggestions please?

When I transferred my icloud email account to TB only a few of the 15 folders were transferred. Troubleshooting first with Apple, I was told to delete the account and re-create it. I did but that did not restore to lost folders. How can I get the rest of my folders to transfer?

Hi, I'm having a problem with my email. It comes to me through my website Bradfraser.net, and is hosted by Viux. Apparently Viux went out of business a while ago and didn't tell anyone. My email stopped arriving at bradfraser@bradfraser.net two weeks ago and all attempts to rectify this have been stymied by my not having my dashboard info for the site, and I am unable to get it from Viux. (Which seems to have a bot answering questions.) Is there any way you can help me access this email account and get it running again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We have recently enabled background updates in our organization, however I noticed that a requirement for this to work is that Firefox needs to be run with the default profile at least once after the feature is enabled. The issue we have is that not all users are actively using Firefox and therefore they are not being updated. I realize the security flaws won't be exposed if it's not in use, but management doesn't like seeing out of date browsers. Is there a way to force auto updates on all device where Firefox isn't not being used. Background updating is working for the majority of those that do use Firefox.

Also, we do have a couple of users reporting a credential prompt when updating from 119 to 119.0.1. These same users had no issues updating from 118 to 119. I have not figured out why this is happening just yet and why only for a handful of users so far. Would anyone have an idea why that is happening?

Why is it that every time Thunderbird updater installs on my laptop, my taskbar link to it becomes unfindable and I have to 1 click on it so that Windows says it can't find it and would you like to remove it so I can then say yes, 2 wait until the taskbar link disappears, 3 go to my desktop icon for Thunderbird and right click to have it pin to the taskbar (AGAIN!) What does updater do to the taskbar pinned icon that it won't work until I remove, replace it, and go back to work??

Updater should NOTHING to do with any of my taskbar icons, let alone the one for Thunderbird. Tell me something I don't know.
