Hello, I have migrated my thunderbird onto a new windows system but I now get not automatic download of messages, the only messages I might get is if I close down Thunderbird and reopen. Get messages does not do anything - not even sure its attempting to communicate with server .

Is there anything I can do or change ? I have literally spent almost trying various things and I am the point of giving up and trying a completely different email client. There should be a seamless migration method but it appears there is not.

Knowing how you migrated may help. Thunderbird offers ways to import, and it is also possible to do a direct copy with Windows File Explorer.
