bold text' I need to stop firefox from attempting to download update 99 because it will not download it and it is taking up too much of my internet metered download time.'I have taken it off of automatically download updates,but it still pops up a message every day.

I'm making this thread since the previous one was closed and provided no real solution, yet the result shows on the very top of Google. So I like to provide helpful information to others in my answer below.

Today I upgraded my TB portable standalone (no portable platform) from 60.9.1 to 68.12.1 As that what it said I could upgrade to in the about window. All worked fine. Now the about window tells me I can upgrade to 78.14. But there is no portable version portable version of that available (sorry I know Mozilla do not support the standalone version). There is a portable version of 91.6. Can I upgrade from 68.12.1 to 91.6? Thanks!

Came out of Win10 mail, moved to Thunderbird. (Good decision). After much screaming and kicking I managed to get my address book info out to a text file, formatted as CSV. Very simple, 3 fields: firstname,lastname,emailname@emailaddrs comma delimited.

Used the Import function, aligned 3 fields with the input data, done. It created a file called "email contacts". All of the addresses came in. Then it got kind of strange. When I open the that file it only shows 2 columns. Col1 is "NAME", Col2 is "EMAIL" Col2 is correct but Col1 shows the emailname only snipped off of the full email address. If I open any entry in the address book with the EDIT button, the first name and last name are there, so the import worked. So the question is: How do I get the top level of the address book to display the firstname, lastname? Did I do something wrong on the import? I can't seem to find any way to add columns or re-arrange the display. The "select columns to display" menu doesn't have any choice that I recognize. I can re-format the source file any way I need to, is there a better structure for import? Advise needed.

I need to install a mailbox on a new machine. I have got as far as the second screen on manual configuration, ie the one which starts with IMAP etc but I can't remember what to enter in some of the boxes. I don't know the port number (or even what that means) and on the host name for the outgoing server I think it began with relay but can't remember the rest. My ISP is refusing to help so please can you? JW

I just downloaded the latest version of firefox. When I tried opening it the message said it is not compatible with Max OSX 10.11. I now need to download a later version of firefox. Which version is compatible with Mac OSX 10.11? thank you!

Hi, I'm struggling to access my address book from my old PC, which died.

The hard drive still works so I have been able to access the old profiles (why are there 2?) and replaced in the install of this new machine:

"Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

So.. that didn't work then. I cannot even load Thunderbird now, just gives that message.

The original machine was Windows 7. I cannot run it, so cannot tell you what version of Tbird it was but it was reasonably up to date. Current install is the very latest.

So... what to do next? I can put a copy of the profile back... OK, can start Tbird again, but how to access the old profile with many years of address book?

Manually copying the profile files into the profile folder doesn't seem to work, even after removing the (new) originals. Rather than using the old ones it's just saying it can't find the newer ones, so I presume there's some way of telling it to use those older ones?

I asked a PC repair shop to move the local profile from C:\ to D:\. The result is as follows: The profile at D:\ is used to store my mails according to account settings: Account Name: Wolfgang Local Directory D:\Thunderbird\Profiles\uec9qce6.default\Mail\Local Folders Troubleshooting Information "about profiles" says: Profile: default This is the profile in use ... Local Directory: C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\uec9qce6.default The profile manager only knows the profile default

How can I tell thunderbird to switch completely to D:\ (where all my mails are currently stored)? I need to free the disk space in C:\

I had Thunderbird running fine under Ubuntu 20.04 and built up contacts and calendar events. i loved it.

I have now upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 and found Thunderbird has made a new installation and a new .default file. I no longer have my contacts and calendar events.

If we call my data rich original file old.default as the old file and the new.default file as my new empty file with a few recent emails, how can I merge old.default and new.default please?

I try using the pair feature but each time I scan, I get a page showing "Did you use the system camera? You must pair from within the Firefox app" Even though I did pair from the Firefox app. I have tried multiple times, always the same issue. I set Thunderbird up for the first time earlier today and wrongly opted for POP. I realise now that it means I can't see my Sent folder, etc, so I'd like to change to IMAP. Unfortunately the article explaining how to do this on your website does not relate to the newest version of Thunderbird, as installed today. I've tried deleting the programme and reinstalling but it's remembering that I chose POP and not letting me start with a clean slate. Please can you help me with this, as I'd love to use Thunderbird!

I have just installed V.100 and have come across a small problem. I can't sign into 'The Canberra Times' site. The option to sign in is missing from their home page. It is there using MS Edge or Chrome and I can login to the site on those two browsers. This does not seem to be a problem with other websites that I have tried since the new version!

I have a friend whose G5 Mac Tower is running OS X 10.4 / System 9 and he needs to install ThunderBird.

Which Version of Thunderbird runs under Mac OS 10.4 ?

After installing the latest update 91.0.9 (I think), TB starts, shows my 'folders' in the left column and 'event's in the right column, then, instead of showing the selected email folder, an hourglass appears for a few seconds and then nothing. I've sent multiple crash reports. I tried uninstalling and re-installing to no avail. I've used TB for 10+ years on both PC n MAC - first time it's left me high and dry. HELP !!

I'm looking forward to Thunderbird 102 with its new features. However I would like to install and run it separately from my existing TB 91.9.0, essentially so as to treat version 102 as a beta and so that I can roll back to version 91.9.0 if I'm not happy with 102 and so that the revamped features such as the new address book will not cause irreversible change. Is there any information online to help with this, or does anyone have any advice? Thank you Andy
