I find it annoying that I have the Find tool on, then open another page in a tab and it's off, or navigate away from a page and have the Find box go away. That box isn't very big and in the way, and it would much better to keep that box open ALL THE TIME. Having to press CTRL+F evertime I need it, is painful. Okay, so I'm lazy! But I don't think it would impair the user's ability to view a page. That row it sits in is as high as only one line of text!

How about implementing this, Mozilla? I mean, your browser is the browser of choice. It's superb at viewing images and retrieving image information. It plays Youtubes and other videos flawlessly. It's as fast as Google's Chrome at performing a search across the net. Firefox wrocks! It would only wrock a little more if one could enable this feature and leave it on all the time. I do a lot of research, and finding a phrase on a page at Wikipedia or elsewhere is performed often. So let's allow new tabs to have the tool on if it is already on, and let's leave it on until we purposely turn it off.

Please?

I've got a local HTML file that I use as a home page and I'd like to replace the new tab page with it as well. The recent update (76), have broken my previous method of doing this. I did this using an autoconfig file described by user cor-el's answers to the same question: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1251199.

After the recent update, my browser fails to read the .cfg on startup and tells me that each time I open Firefox ('failed to read the configuration file'). For transparency, the code in that .cfg file looks like this:

// Do not remove this comment

var {classes:Cc,interfaces:Ci,utils:Cu} = Components;

var newTabURL = "file:///path-to-my-page/index.html";

aboutNewTabService = Cc["@mozilla.org/browser/aboutnewtab-service;1"].getService(Ci.nsIAboutNewTabService);

aboutNewTabService.newTabURL = newTabURL;

Not sure how to put that in a code format on this forum. If anyone has any idea why the recent changes have broken this or a way to fix it, I'd appreciate it.

Edit: I've figured out it fails on the last line, as commenting that out causes it to no longer fail to read the config file. Can you not set the newTabURL anymore? Has it been renamed to something else?

Hello! I love Firefox, especially when I can hide all unwanted distractions. I always want a blank homepage, but this is currently impossible to obtain without completely disabling History. I always want History to exist in the Firefox Menu, but I still want to have a blank homepage. As it currently exists, I'm forced to be distracted by this big, oftentimes useless menu every time I open a new tab. Please enable this ability, it makes no sense as its currently designed.

Firefox makes it way too hard to find this 'ask a Q' page.

I began using Firefox Color & made a theme. Now I cannot change it. I went back to Firefox Color, selected the theme I made & deleted it but every time I open Firefox that theme comes back. I want to use—and make stick—the theme I have collected in Add-ons. How do I get rid of that annoying theme made on Firefox Color. (No, the new annoying theme does not show up in Settings >> Themes.)

Hello- Please clarify the article "Multi-Account Containers" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/containers#w_open-links-in-new-tabs-and-containers . Number 4 in the section "What you can do with Multi-Account Containers" says that you can "Assign a website to a container, so that a specific website will always open in a specific container." The article doesn't describe how, and it's not obvious to me. Please describe specifically how to do this. Thanks!

I'm a paid subscriber of ActiveInbox and had been using the Firefox plugin. Unfortunately it has been out of commission for over a year. On their support forums they've commented that after a substantial rewrite of the plugin, things got bogged down within Mozilla's review process. It has been stalled ever since. I just asked for a status update on that thread and was told "there is no change in the way Firefox process updates" and nothing is happening right now. As a paid subscriber, I'm just trying to get something more definitive as to the status of their plugin as I need to decide whether or not to continue to pay for the service. I greatly appreciate any information.

And neither is the Temporary Containers Addon. I just did fresh brand new initial Firefox install on both the most updated version of Windows 10 and the most recent version of Ubuntu 20.04. All addons appear in the toolbar except these 2. I've tried installing these 2 first. I've tried installing them last, then disabling all the other addons, uninstalling them and reinstalling them. Nothing will make them appear in the toolbar, yet they appear as enabled when they display under the addons > extensions. Also, hitting the extension shortcuts will not bring up the addon interaction screen for any of the addons, e.g. Ctrl U or Ctrl <period> or whatever the relevant shortcut command is. This appears to only be an issue with FRESH Firefox install, because on my other computer running Windows 10 I've had the Multiaccount Containers Addon in the toolbar for 6 months without issue through many older versions of Firefox; and after I updated (rather than fresh install) to this latest version the Multiaccount Containers Addon remains in the toolbar without issue.

Can anyone suggest how I can get theMultiaccount Containers Addon and Temporary Containers Addon to appear in the toolbar? And why are none of the extension shortcuts working - could I be executing them on the wrong screen? I've been trying them on the Addons > Extensions screen.

json policy was added to TB68 https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/68.0/releasenotes/

For company CA installation I have firefox policy: /usr/share/firefox-esr/distribution/policies.json

       {
         "policies": {
           "Certificates": {
             "Install": [ "/etc/ca.pem" ]
           }
         }
       }

It works

What is the path for TB policy and filename? mirrored structure did not help /usr/share/thunderbird/distribution/policies.json TB still warnes about certificate

It worked with trick to use system certs, ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/p11-kit-trust.so /usr/lib/thunderbird/libnssckbi.so with /usr/local/share/ca-certificates && update-ca-certificates and lockPref("security.enterprise_roots.enabled", true);

but better to use new solution

UPD: I checked source. And it is correct, it uses distribution/policies.json But it does not apply niether

       {
         "policies": {
           "Certificates": {
             "Install": [ "/etc/ca.pem" ]
           }
         }
       }

nor

       {
         "policies": {
           "Certificates": {
             "ImportEnterpriseRoots": true
           }
         }
       }

I installed the Honey add-on. It's an app that will find coupon codes when you purchase online. I realized after a while that none of the codes it had were working, so basically, it's useless. I went to the add-on tab, clicked "remove" and thought that would be the last of it, however there was a small popup window for the app that wouldn't go away. Checking the help section of Firefox, I proceeded to manually uninstall the app by its code. Shut down Firefox, delete the code started up Firefox and now I have a blank pop-up window. The app is gone, I think, but I still have this popup that I can't close. If I right click on the Firefox logo in the dock, I see the open Firefox tab and a tab labeled about:blank Mozilla Firefox. I'm using a Mac with Catalina. Any suggestions?
