How do I make folders to move messages into to store them?

more options

I want to make a variety of folders like: Family; Friends; Stuff to Keep; Orders; Trip Info......etc. to store email messages in to refer to later. I don't want to have to look through a thousands emails to find a certain email. Other email programs have a column where one can make any number of folders alongside the list of email messages.

Chosen solution

Not sure why you clicked on a space under local folders. If you want a subfolder under local folders right click local folders and select New Folder.

When I right click in empty space under local folders the dialog box opens and says it is going to create the new folder under my Inbox. Try reading the dialog box that opens. It tells you where the new folder is going to be created. It even has a drop down list where you can choose the destination.
