Do you have Kaspersky security software? This message can occur when using its SSL Scan feature. Some users report that trying to reload one or more times will eventually resolve the issue, but that's a pain...

Some documentation on SSL Scan:

(1) General SSL scan setting: How to scan encrypted connections in Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012?; How to scan encrypted connections in Kaspersky PURE 2.0? (except: turn it off instead of on)

(2) Making an exception for a specific program (e.g., Google Chrome): Encrypted connections scan by Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 in Google Chrome; Scan of encrypted connections in Google Chrome and Opera (KIS 2013)

Some users have reported that even after working around Kaspersky they still have this problem. If you continue to have this issue, which security software are you using?

By the way, did this just start in Firefox 27? For the first time, Firefox 27 will try to connect with web servers using the highest level of SSL encryption, called TLS 1.2. You can limit Firefox to the older levels used in Firefox 26 and earlier by changing a setting. Obviously this is less secure, but if these sites are critical and you can't find another workaround, here is how you would do it.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste tls and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.tls.version.max preference and change it from 3 to 1 and click OK.
