I dont think there is any way provided by firefox to do so. If you think its needed to be widened permanently, you can file at bug (at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi). Or you could search for some addon which can do this task for you.

hello, in principle this feature should be implemented in firefox. enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up), search for the preference named general.autoScroll and make sure that its value is set to true.

Thanks but I set it to true and it did not work, anything else I can try? Meanwhile will search for an add on!

You can only widen the scroll bars via a custom theme (check the Add-ons website) or make the change in the Linux theme settings.
