I have done everything I can think of to get rid of this Bing search and finally came upon your https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/850126, by mha007. Even following these instructions to a T in Windows 7, the issue continues.

When windows first boots the Google logo is there, but if I open a new tab the Bing search engine comes up. I'm freaking out and will not use it because I suspect spyware, so I have my search engines set up to only allow "Google" and "Yahoo" at the top right of my screen. Still it continues and is driving me crazy in having to switch every time I bring up a new page. Plus, I'm petrified my kids will use this. Another site, Gorilla Price has been downloaded and will not come off and I don't know if this is a separate issue or if it's related.

When I open a tab this is the address that populates: lab.search.conduit.com/HP/SH/?layid=43&gid=771&ctid=CT3315039&searchsource=69&UM=2& until I click on the house at the top right corner.

Now I am researching under YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8Fa7wXWKe0 and the program Ronnie Harris has on his screen is one I've recently downloaded, Freemake Video Converter, which is where this virus originated. It's a "free ware" application that apparently hijacks the system.

(This email message has been generated by my Mac, not the infected unit which is Windows 7)

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
