I am in IT and am attempting to support a customer using Firefox. All of his Google Searches in Firefox are redirected to google.co.in and he is also exposed to a number of google-sourced ads specific to India, even though the customer is in New Jersey, in the US and has not been to India. I could not see any tab in Firefox that would hold location specific settings. The customer is running Windows 7.

The customer can try these steps:

Check the reported location:

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
