Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Copy paste is broken actually. Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't. Occurred after the latest update.

I am having the same problem reported by the OP. Specifically, it appears to be the Copy function that is not working, either copying URLs from the address bar or text from the body of the page. So far, the Cut function appears to work on URLs (obviously not on the page content). I have not encountered any problems pasting text that is already in the paste buffer, ether from using Cut in FF or from copying outside the browser. This problem started as soon as I upgraded from FF 21 to FF 22.

Even if the problem is triggered by profile corruption, the fact that multiple users are having the same problem shortly after upgrading suggests there is a problem in FF 22 that causes the corruption.

Does anyone know how to back out of FF 22? Apparently the FF Windows upgrade process does not create a new restore point before performing the upgrade.

Yes, I am having the same problem... mine works most of the time, but fails about every 1 out of 5 attempts, sometimes multiple times in a row. Extremely annoying. There is a bug report for this:

It started happening to me as soon as I upgraded to FF 22, even on local HTML files where there are no clipboard events.

I have had the same problem for the last week or so as well. I have mostly seen it happen on the website conquerclub.com when I am trying to copy and paste in the forum. It has been starting to happen on other websites as well.

I hate to see "me too", but that's the case.

I cannot copy or cut from Firefox 22 into anything. For what reason, what text I select is not going into the clipboard.

Copy and Paste doesn't work for me at all in version 22.

In fact, I dislike this latest version of FF so much I went back to the last version I liked, version 18.0.1

sadly, things started going downhill with Firefox after version 18

the copy/paste bug was just the last straw.

you shouldn't have to go 4 versions back to do what you need to do online.

They've apparently got a patch to fix this issue. Is it possible to download a copy of FF22 with the patch included? This bug is kind of annoying :-|

Same problem here. I can copy/paste in every other application. I can copy the http: address line in Firefox. I can drag pictures to Irfanview, but cannot copy/paste them from Firefox (works in IE). Occasionally the copy/paste works in Firefox, but not usually.

Disabling all add-ons did not help. Turning off my firewall did not help.

I am moving to IE for the first time in years, at least until this problem is fixed.

PS upgraded(?) to Beta 23 and that didn't help.

 I just installed Firefox 23 beta version, updated it today and copy paste works perfect. Even with Zonealarm installed.

I still have to test it thoroughly and advise others do the same. Cheers!!

I`ve had the same problem. I couldn`t copy/paste, especially from javascript. I tried a few resolutions which where provided by other users but those where not good enough for me. I was trying for example: - 23 beta version - reinstall firefox at all - reinstall java, update java - reinstall flash plugin, update it - shut off plugins and other stuff under firefox and a few others. None of this had hepled me.

But i found one response, where someone accidentally removed Zone Alarm Personal Firewall, and It did help to that person. I tried that. I removed that application and I succeeded :) Now copy/paste is working perfectly. Try that :)

It's worth a shot if you have ZA installed, but it has already been established that many of us having this problem don't run ZA. It probably has more to do with some app (ZA or otherwise) messing with the clipboard that Firefox doesn't like. That being the case, Firefox is the only app on my system that appears to have any issues in this regard.

BTW: Can you install the FF23 beta on top of FF22, and then upgrade to FF23 final when that comes out? Or will god kill a puppy if I try and do that? :P This copy/paste bug is driving me nuts.

I don't have Zone Alarm either, and I've been having this intermittent copy/paste not working for a few weeks now. Very frustrating.

Glad it's fixed (and with FF23, it really is FIXED). But why, if as apparent, the developers knew about the problem in FF22 rather early on, was there all the stuff about looking into your profile for problems, and other unrelated suggestions that would have done no good anyway?

LOL, that's usually the default answer... check your profile, boot in safe mode, uninstall/reinstall, reboot your computer, clear your cache, etc. It's generally the developers' way of saying 'our app/OS is a buggy P.O.S. and we can't be bothered to fix it, so just do this whenever you have a problem ...'

Copy Paste from web would not work in version 23.1 until I went to

about:config and changed

dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled; to false

The current release appears to be 23.0.1. Are you reporting a new bug in a pre-release version? Or is the version number incorrect?

FWIW, I'm running 23.0.1: dom.event.clipboardevents is enabled and copy and paste appear to be working properly.

Ya, I've only had a couple of misfires in 23, but that isn't anything out of the ordinary, since I copy/paste all the time. Definitely better than it was in 22.
