Completely agree!!! This update is just so stupid! =血=！ Can someone kindly tell me where to download the previous v21 pls? I don't have its exe and mozilla website don't seem to provide downloads for older versions for god's sake! I just want to downgrade and make everything back to normal already, urgh!!!

For me, I don't mine about it. But v22 took me confused for several days. Until I found these topic.

Btw, I use no-squint addon for along time. Because some webs use very tiny text, some webs use big text.

My System DPI 125%

v21 I set no-squint default to 120% (I want big font). For a good web that use big text to adjust to 100%

v22 I set no-squint default to 100% (Get the same size as v21). For a good web that use big text to adjust to 80%

You can download older versions at filehippo.com. Search for 'firefox' and you'll probably see the latest beta version. Click on that and on the right side of the screen you'll either see a link for 'Older versions' or it will show you all the links for the older versions.

OK so I thought that using NoSquint at 80% was a nice easy fix but soon discovered that the Responsive Design View is screwed up now - the screen sizes aren't accurate any more. So if I want to check a design at, say, 360x640, it's useless because it's not actually that size. I'm going to try the more complicated solution and hope that fixes Responsive Design View... anyone else check that yet? If not... then it'll be back to V21 for me too.

Firefox on Windows is now following display scaling options which may render text larger on high resolution displays. If the suggestion given in the Webpages are large and blurry after updating Firefox - how to fix article doesn't fix it for you, try reversing the changes you made via NoScript NoSquint and then do the following:

• Type about:config into the Firefox address bar and tap on the Enter key.
• If the warning This might void your warranty appears, click I'll be careful, I promise.
• Search for layout.css.devPixelsPerPx

• Double-click on layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to modify its value. The default is -1.0 in Firefox 22 and above. Change it to 1.0 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions.

If necessary, further adjust the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps. Use values between 1.0 and about 0.5 to reduce elements in size. Use values greater than 1.0 to increase size. For example, a value of 1.25 will increase font size to 125% to accommodate the default DPI setting in Windows 8. Double check the value that you enter. Setting a too small value will make everything disappear and a too large value will blow things up.

If web pages still need to be adjusted then you can look at the Default FullZoom Level or NoSquint extension.

To adjust the font size for the user interface, you can use the Theme Font & Size Changer extension.

Firefox 22 for me is the worst update ever. Given advice with about:config and layout.css.devPixelsPerPx is a joke? This is jibberish for most users, they will not do it, they will rather change browser because they would not like FF anymore. I am designing webpages, testing them in four major browsers and this new scaling in Firefox is simply disaster, I fell back to FF21 on all five of my computers, hoping that this catastrophic scaling idea will be dropped with next update...

Hi. I don't want to be hysterical, but I must say that while the decision to link browser font sizes to system font sizes with FF22 may be a good idea from some perspective I think it's likely a narrow, remote perspective. I can see an argument that the application UI might be linked to the OS, although I personally think that any application should have simple access to controls which resize its UI independantly of OS font settings. Also IMHO the rendered internet and the OS that a browser runs on are VERY different spaces and I see a clear logical separation: one should not interfere with the other. FF's usability is I believe greatly hampered by this. I am addicted to Firebug and I will not switch to Chrome because of this, but I can't think of a reason that even 1 person who is not addicted to Firebig would hesitate to switch to Chrome after this update. I love your work and I would dearly love to be enlightened as to how this decision makes sense if anyone from the Mozilla team is reading this.

layout.css.devPixelsPerPx also does not restore it properly. It will restore websites to their original sizes, however, it also has the unwanted side effect of changing the tab/menu text to the original instead of following the system scaling for those items. This will require changing the default styles for those items to restore them properly.

My Windows 7 has 115%. As such in Firefox 22 everything is way too big. Worst of all, all images get blurred. Changed the setting layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to disable the scaling, but then all the menus got ant-sized, miniature-like. Firefox devs, these two things are not acceptable solutions:

- Using third-party add-ons to solve this mess (like No-Squint).

- Force users to dive in about:config to change the scaling behaviour.

So please, turn the scaling off as a default (just like Firefox 21) and create some options in the Options menus for those who want it on (and while you're on it, give the option to treat text and images independently, as blurred images are obviously despicable).

I'm having the same issue with FF 22 - everything is too big and images are blurry. My windows dpi is set to 125% but web pages look best at 110%. The Default Zoom Level plugin took care of this issue just fine (and even remember site specific settings). Trying to work backwards to undo the zoom introduced in FF 22 is frustrating and I don't want to mess with about:config to fix what for all intents and purposes is a bug.

I'm going back to FF 21, and hope this gets put back to normal in the next version. I revived my account here just to post this because if this zoom linking is going to continue, that is not going to work for me.

This article in "How do I set the default font size to a lower value?" explains how to make a complaint about Firefox zoom levels. (Forums are to help each other only) Hardly anyone has complained so the devs assume there's no problem.

Funny, I jumped in here thinking that it would help FF revert this mess but it just turns out the devs push back with trying to get users to update config etc.

For myself, those computers that have +100% default zoom I have stopped using FF and fully switched over to Chrome.

Too bad that FF had to go messing about with their default zoom, will be interesting to see how this impacts their market share.

My company creates videos for websites, little talking heads that come on the screen and say something. With this update the videos are now smaller because for some reason Firefox doesn't increase the size of the video along with everything else on the page. This makes positioning them correctly impossible cross-browser. If Firefox doesn't display a page remotely near the same as the other major browsers this is basically a product killer for us. Firefox used to be the 'good' browser that you didn't have to do extra coding to get pages to look right. So how do I contact all our client's and all of their visitors to get them to do this workaround?

We are considering adding something like this to the page, if we sense Firefox: This as well as other webpages may not format correctly in Firefox v22 due to redesign of how Firefox displays pages (the webpage may look 125% bigger). We suggest using another browser for optimum viewing experience.

@patdrummond thanks for the tip. I looked around the official mozilla forums, but the suitable ones for the problem discussed here seem to be kind of dead.

Meanwhile I've found two different bugzilla reports that cover some of the things mentioned here, and through them it is probably easier to discuss these issues with the developers:

I used some of the add ons suggested and nothing make the look and feel like before. My solution was get back to version 21, disable the autoupdate option, hoping a new release fix this situation.
