Why don't I have a file menu or a Firefox button in the top left of my screen?

Going in a circle! I can use the Firefox button to show the file menu and vice/versa. Unfortunately, I am not seeing a file menu OR the button! What am I missing! The settings for Chrome are very limited and this is getting very frustrating!

Do you see the Firefox title bar?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible:

  • "View > Toolbars"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
