went to bed a few nights ago (left computer on) and when I woke up firefox updated to 14.0.1 and nothing is working as it should. bookmarks were all gone. my homepage and settings were all removed. before after downloading a file the link would be removed from my download list automatically, now it shows a long list of files that I just downloaded. and now the setting can't be found to remove the files automatically after downloading.

I've been using firefox since it first came out years ago and after so many crashes with upgrades and now this, I am seriously considering finding a new browser. I thought the whole point of using a browser was because you loved it?

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can try to check and repair the places database with this extension:

Downloads are now managed in the Library (History > Show All History > Downloads) and you need to remove them there.
