Hello everyone, I'm quite "new" to FF, considering that I'm in the process of making it my primary browser since the one I was using until now became increasingly obsolete and frustrating.

I've installed a good few numbers of add-ons already to configure it to my liking, but I don't seem to crack that one.

All is in my question's title really: I'd like to be able to open a new tab at the very right of any selected tab.

Is there any way to do that?

Thanks!

Chosen solution

See tabbed browsing newly opened tabs can open to the immediate right of the current one. For instance right click a link on this page and open as a new tab, by default that opens to the immediate right, rather than at the far right.

I remember that being introduced, (see new tabs do not appear to the right of the last tab ) and am trying to remember whether at that time new blank tabs also opened to the immediate right. Is that what you want a new blank tab?

There are many extensions that affect tab behaviour, maybe one of them helps look through https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/extensions/tabs/

Many thanks for your reply, John!

Your different links put me on the right path: I had installed the Tab Mix Plus extension and unclicked a couple of boxes which prevented the tabs to open as they should.

... Definitely a newbie mistake, I'm afraid. Sorry about that! :s

Many thanks again for your help.

Glad to have helped you solving the problem.

Thanks for posting back. There are millions of Firefox users, some of them will be making the same mistake, and your solved answer may be what helps others with the same problem.

You can also do that without using an extension by setting the browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent pref to false on the about:config page.

Thanks for your reply.

I had indeed read this tip somewhere, tested it... and it works, you're perfectly right. I've lost track of things after installing and removing extensions that have more or less the same purpose.
