I have just up dated both Firefox and Thunderbird but a problem still exists. When I open a link offered on an email in Thunderbird by simply clicking on it, it in opens up in an already open window in Firefox as expected and that new tab is active and works. But it deactivates all the other tabs and activities in that window. Another clue is that instead of a full size tab being produced for the new site, a little dimple shows up, approximately a quarter inch wide. If I import more sites in from Thunderbird they are deposited within this same dimple. I use colour tabs and as each new site is imported the colour changes on that singular dimple. If however I remember to open the link from Thunderbird by right clicking on it and choosing 'open link in browser', it installs properly and the remainder of the Firefox window with all its various tabs remains active and accessible. Any ideas?
