Firefox 8 constantly crashes, reinstalling did not help. How do I roll back to Firefox 7?

Ever since I made the mistake of upgrading to Firefox 8.0.1, it now freezes/crashes upwards of 4, 5, 6+ times a day. Usually I just get the 'Firefox needs to close' error, but more often than not, when copying and pasting text or a URL, or trying to open a new window, or when trying to log into a website, it completely freezes. I notice it freezes quite often when using YouTube and Facebook (open in multiple tabs).

I normally have to go into the Task Manager to the Processes tab to end firefox.exe, and in doing so I noticed that there are two instances of plugin-container.exe running at any given time. When I close them out, although I can no longer use YouTube or other dynamic sites/pages, the crashing and freezing seems to let up and Firefox seems to run a lot faster.

I even went so far as to completely uninstall Firefox 8.0.1 and reinstall it yesterday, to no avail. I even left off my theme in hopes of alleviating the issue but nothing I do seems to help.

Please assist me, I need Firefox here at my job. None of the links I am finding for Firefox 7 are valid and I don't want to roll back all the way to version 3.6.

Hey,

There are a lot of benefits to running the latest version of Firefox. You should consider leaving feedback for the developers so that they can continue to improve the product. There is some information on some known issues with the latest build here. They mention crashes, so that might help.

If you still want to roll back to a previous version of Firefox, just take a look at the Knowledge Base article Install an older version of Firefox.

Hopefully this helps!

Do you use 'RemoveTabs'?. If so, disable this add-on. I think this is the cause.
