I was searching on Firefox just now and a site instantaneously downloaded their own tool bar without my permission. I rebooted and deleted my cache and opened a new Firefox browser and the bar is gone.

You have the XUL Cache 1.0 extension installed and that extension is considered malware.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
