Cookies are persistent and can't be deleted; I have tried "remove" and "remove all"; I've deleted "cookies sqlite; I've been to Genius Bar at Apple store; no success; can you help?

Have also used "clear recent history" but cookies remain Also, we created new profile, do not seem to have this problem with new "test profile". We are assuming there is a setting in Firefox causing the cookies to persist. don't know what's causing this, and don't know how to fix. suggestions please?
